What do all polar amino acids have in common?
Generally cysteine (Cys),Serine (Ser), Threonine (Thr), Asparagine (Asn), Glutamine (Gln), and Tyrosine (Tyr) are known as polar amino acids all the amino acids contain high eletro negativity group at their side chain but these side chains are not charged.
Take ser, thr, tyr having hydroxyl group (-OH) at their side chain these side chains can not dissociate like carboxylic group (-COOH) similarly Asn and Glu also contain CONH2 side chain and this side chain can not easily protonated. But all this amino acids are present at the outer surface of the protein in hydrophilic environment and facilitate hydrogen bond formation.
