Predict how this processes would be affected in the given situation. Imagine that DNA polymerase is not able to catalyze the formation of phosphodiester bonds. DNA replication includes three steps:initiation,elongation and termination.During initiation DNA splits open into Y shaped replication fork with the help of helicase enzyme.DNA polymerase are essential enzymes for DNA replication.DNA polymerase adds DNA nucleotides to the 3' end of the new strand synthesised.DNA polymerase reads the existing DNA strand and and creates new strand that are complimentary to the existing strand.DNA polymerase also has proof reading mechanism and also repair the DNA.If DNA polymerase malfunctions this can lead to mutations in DNA and lead to malfunctioning DNA.DNA polymerase catalyze the formation of phosphodiester bond.If it is not able to catalyze the bond,the replication of DNA will not occur.The nucleotides will be synthesized but they won't be joined to form a complete strand.
