Ageing is a multifactorial process. It is determined by Genetic and environmental factors. There are various theories of ageing. Here we will discuss only heterogenetic theory.

Hetrogenicity means extensive variation in the lives of individuals , which affect the ageing and life span. Or in other words we can say that,

Heterogenetic theory of ageing states that the diversity in speed of ageing is due to accumulation of these individual characteristics.

These Factors are

Smoking ,exercise, diet, access to health care, exposure to physical environments, genetic factors, behavioural characteristics, personal life Socioeconomic Status.

Every individual has these factors different, these interindividual factors determines the speed of ageing and life span of an individual.
