8. In sesame plants, the one-pod condition (O) is dominant to the tri-pod condition (o), and smooth leaf (S) is dominant to wrinkled leaf (s). Pod type and leaf type are inherited independently. Determine the genotypes for the two parents for all possible matings producing the following offspring:

a. 318 one-pod smooth, 98 one-pod wrinkled
b. 323 tri-pod smooth, 106 tri-pod wrinkled
c. 401 one-pod smooth
d. 150 one-pod smooth, 147 one-pod wrinkled, 51 tri-pod smooth, 48 tri-pod wrinkled e. 223 one-pod smooth, 72 one-pod wrinkled, 76 tri-pod smooth, 27 tri-pod wrinkled
Hint: it can be helpful to consider one trait at a time, and determine phenotypic ratios for each trait separately.

Probability and Genetics Lab In heredity, we are concerned with the occurrence, every time an egg is fertilized, of the probability that a particular gene or chromosome will be passed on through the egg, or through the sperm, to the offspring. As you know, genes and chromosomes are present in pairs in each individual, and segregate as they go into the gametes (egg and sperm). There are two possible genes (alleles) that the egg or sperm might obtain from each...
