For the trait called “Darwin’s Tubercle”, the dominant form is noted as D and the recessive is noted as d. What are the possible genotypes of the offspring from a mating between the following individuals? DD x dd

Answer #1

I've attached an image above for better understanding. The genotypes of the parents are DD and dd according to the question.

So if we cross these two parents, the genotype of every offspring will be dD (Can be written as Dd) since both are homozygous for their respective alleles. So all the offsprings will be hybrid and phenotypically will show dominant trait.

But since the question is asking only for Genotype, the genotype of every offspring will be Dd

Suppose the human trait for dimplesis controlled by a simple dominant and recessive relationship at one locus. You wanted to determine the frequency of people with dimples in the city of Doral. Of the 1500 people you surveyedin downtown Doral, 1172 have dimples. Calculate the frequency of the having dimples –dominant allele,D–and the heterozygous genotype, Dd. Express the frequencies in decimal form rounded to the nearest thousandth. Assume the population in the city of Doralis in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for this...

Black coat color of guinea pigs is a dominant trait, and white is the alternative recessive trait. If two F1 animals are mated what proportion of the F2 guinea pigs would be expected to be black?

In a particular plant, a recessive allele is associated with white flowers (w). The dominant allele (W) results in purple flowers. Two plants are crossed. The offspring are made up of 175 plants with purple flowers and 161 plants with white flowers. Using the allele symbols shown above, the genotypes of the two parents are Ww x ww. This mating is an example of a/an ?

For the trait hemophilia, individuals can inherit dominant alleles (normal blood clotting) or recessive alleles (hemophilia—cannot clot blood). Heterozygousindividuals are carriers for this trait, meaning they have the recessive allele in their cells, but do not express hemophilia. Which of the following BEST explains why these individuals do not express the trait? Group of answer choices One of a female’s X chromosomes is inactivated in every cell as dosage compensation. Females are the heterogametic sex in humans, while females are...
