explain why the permeability artificial membranes is diffusive

explain why the permeability artificial membranes is diffusive

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A pure artificial membrane is composed of mainly phopholipid bilayer. The hydrophilic portion of the phospholipid faces to the outside and the hydrophobic regions of the phopholipid remain embedded within the bilayer. No protein carrier molecules or transporters are not present in the artificial membrane. So facilitated diffusion or active transport is not possible. only small hydrophobic molecules and small uncharged polar molecules can diffuse through the artificial membrane from higher concentration to lower concentration.
