True or false.  NSO murine myeloma cells are used in a bioreactor to produce the pharmaceutical Tysabri. Please explain!

Answer #1

Ans:- NSO cells are used in the production of therapeutic or pharmacological active proteins. They are derived from non-secretory murine myeloma cells and used in biomedical research. NSO cells are produced by hybridoma technology by the fusion of myeloma cells (Cancer B-cell obtained from mice/murine) and lymphocytes. NSO cells produce monoclonal antibodies that are used for the treatment of diseases. They are naturally antibody producing cellls, which helps in the rapid expression of recombinant proteins like antibodies. The therapeutic monoclonal antibodies produced by NSO cells include Natalizumab, daclizumab and eculizumab.  The brand name of natalizumab is Tysabri, which is used for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Thus it is true that NSO murine cells produce 'Tysabri'.
