Remember Interphase!! - comes before either mitosis or meiosis, the cell grows and duplicates DNA.
Interphase is a stage wherein a cell spends considerable time. It comes before mitosis that leads to two identical daughter cells. Interphase is a time between mitosis and is divided further into G1, S and G2 phases
G1 phase : cell organalles and cytoplasm duplicates.Key molecules like proteins and enzymes too , some lipids, phospholipids are also duplicated
S phase : The DNA replicates
G2 phase : A check is carried out that DNA has replicated with any errors. Also, more proteins are synthesized and cell size grows further.
There is a premeiotic phase too ,which is similarly divided into G1,S and G2 phases. Meiosis produces four daughter cells each with distinct genotype.
