Mendel developed the laws of segregation and independent assortment based on the results of his pea plant experiments. Do you believe these laws are explained by mitosis or meiosis and why? Explain your reasoning
Mendel's law relates to meiosis. Mendel's law of segregation states that genes of parents must segregate equally into haploid gametes that their offspring have an equal likelihood of inheriting either one, it happen during meiosis. During meiosis, the dominant and recessive traits of the parents segregate equally into haploid gametes .
In independent assortment ,the trait inherited through one gene will be inherited independently of the trait inherited through another gene because genes reside on different chromosome which are assorted independently into daughter cell during meiosis.
