Background Information: Pat owns some forested land, and is considering applying a broad-spectrum fungicide to the forest soil, to try and kill a parasitic fungus that can cause root rot in the particular species of trees growing there. Statement: Pat's trees will probably be healthier and grow more rapidly after application of this fungicide. After reviewing the background information, do you agree or disagree with the statement above? Thoroughly explain your reasoning.

Yes I agree with the statement above. I like to explain this with the help of an example the most frequently studied mycoparasite occurs in the soil, rotting wood and old mushrooms . When it grows over another fungus it simply dissolve its host hyphae with extracellular enzymes.trichoderma species are not usually very particular about what fungi table consume. Trichoderma is not host specific it made them useful as agents of biological control like roots of the trees.
