Photosynthesis is an important process for plants, but is it also important for humans? Based on the products of photosynthesis what do you consider to be the single major purpose of the process and why?

Answer #1

Photosynthesis helps the plant to survive and human beings as well. As entire food chain depends on the plant, directly and indirectly, both herbivores and carnivores would die without plants.

Photosynthesis is a physiochemical process by which photosynthetic organisms convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of reducing power (as NADPH) and ATP, and uses these chemicals to drive carbon dioxide fixation. Because of photosynthesis, plants essentially function as filters that take carbon dioxide, which is poisonous to humans and much another life form, from the atmosphere and replace it with oxygen which makes life possible. As photosynthesis converts sunlight light into carbohydrates (sugars), these sugars are stored and consumed only when it is required by the plants.

In plants, the process of photosynthesis produces glucose (C6H12O6) and oxygen from carbon dioxide and water. Which of the following options about photosynthesis is consistent with this statement? A) Water is synthesized by the plant from H2 and O2. B) More atoms are present at the beginning than at the end. C) All of the carbon atoms in glucose came from carbon dioxide. D) More carbon dioxide is released from the plant than is absorbed.

Is there a significant sense in which humans are highly complex organic machines? Humans are obviously far more complicated than any computer or computer program nowadays, but those things are fast approaching what humans can do (and have surpassed human abilities in certain areas). Then when you study how human beings actually work, and how they do what they do, you realize that we have hardware (the stuff that genetics gets you) and software (education and experiences), inputs (interaction with...

Assignment: Complete the Photosynthesis Table. Remember, carbon fixation refers to the reaction between an inorganic form of carbon (CO2, or HCO3-) and an organic form of carbon (RUBP or PEP) to make an organic molecule. Also, assume that leaves are performing photosynthesis, not stems. Photosynthesis Table Pathway Do the stomata typically open during the daytime or the nighttime? Is CO2 involved in the first carbon fixation event? The Calvin cycle typically only occurs in chloroplasts of the ___________. Do the...
