Photosynthesis is an important process for plants, but is it also important for humans? Based on the products of photosynthesis what do you consider to be the single major purpose of the process and why?
Photosynthesis helps the plant to survive and human beings as well. As entire food chain depends on the plant, directly and indirectly, both herbivores and carnivores would die without plants.
Photosynthesis is a physiochemical process by which photosynthetic organisms convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of reducing power (as NADPH) and ATP, and uses these chemicals to drive carbon dioxide fixation. Because of photosynthesis, plants essentially function as filters that take carbon dioxide, which is poisonous to humans and much another life form, from the atmosphere and replace it with oxygen which makes life possible. As photosynthesis converts sunlight light into carbohydrates (sugars), these sugars are stored and consumed only when it is required by the plants.
