Simple Monohybrid Cross without Phenotypes
Individuals with the following genotypes were crossed: Aa and
aa:
a. What gametes can each parent produce and in what
proportion?
b. What genotypes could result from this cross?
c. If a large number of offspring were produced, what proportion
would have the Aa genotype?
With reference to the above image :
a. For a better understanding let's assume Aa as parent 1 and aa as parent 2
So, the parent 1 can able to produce gamete of 2 types they are A and a. Propotion of the gametes are 50% A and 50% a.
Parent 2 can able to produce only one type of gamete that is a. So the propotprop is 100%
b. At the end of cross two genotypes are possible, Aa And aa.
C. If the offspring are produced in large population, the proportion of Aa genotype is 50%.
