What is the difference between subsite and subunit in enzymes? What do they represesent?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Subsite is the part of the enzyme where the reactants come and bind. This is a part of the active site of the enzyme. In the subsite region a single his or tyr moiety present in the active site which binds to reactants can be termed as subsites. Subunit of the enzyme is the secondary and tertiary structure of enzymes. They are the building blocks of proteins. Hence a subsite represents the binding of the reactant to the enzyme at specific sites and subunit represents the structural arrangement of enzyme.
