Clonal selection is present in the adaptive immunity. Where the immune elements are produced specifically for a perticular antigen. It can be only seen in case of humoral immunity. T-cell and B-cell undegoes clonal selection in the secondary lymphoid organ, spleen and lymph node.

On the other hand in case of innate immunity the fight against the antigen is in a generallised version, for broad spectrum. The cells like NK cells, nutrophils, macrophages do not need specilization through clonal selection. They can fight a wide range of antigen irrespective of the antigen's immunogenicity.
