[4/30/6] WHAT ARE THE HUMAN CELLS THAT DO NOT EXPRESS TELOMERASE & WHY?
Typed please. (sometimes I can't understand the handwriting in some
of the responses I get)]
Most human somatic cells lack telomerase.
Telomerase(terminal telomere transferase) is the enzyme that prevents shortening of telomere.telomeres are a small portion of 3' end of parent strand which cannot be replicated.replication of this part is done by telomerase.when telomerase is absent this terminal end is not replicated and length of DNA shortens. And if somatic cells have continued expression of telomerase then chromosome length equilibrium is maintained and leads to continuous cell division.leading to cancer.so to prevent cancerous transformation of somatic cells thry doesn't Express telomerase.
