Leslie boiled a hen’s egg (a cell), placed it in beet juice for some days, and then opened it and saw the red coloration in the egg. Which process is most likely to have taken place: diffusion, active transport, osmosis or phagocytosis? and why? also explain, why not the other processes?

Here the process taken place is called Osmosis. Osmosis is the movement of solvent molecue from a hypotonic solution to hypertonic solution through a semipermeable membrane. Egg contain a semipermeable membrane through which other mentioned processes can't take place.Diffusion is the random movement of solvents, solutes and gases in a concentration gradient. Active transport is the energy dependent absorption of ions against concentration gradient and phagocytosis is a process in which cell engulf solid particles.
