  1. Let's consider the above mentioned reaction in which there is initial binding of the indicator (Catechol violet) to the analyte will be broken in the presence of a host such as EDTA which gets chelated in the presence of the zinc ion (analyte) to form a complex more strong than the one between a host and indicator and thus the released indicator will show a colour it shows in a free state that is blue.
  2. This is illustration showing how the affinity of the analyte and indicator changes in presence of a host showing interaction with host of an agent with maximum chelation ability.
