What is unique about prokaryotic DNA?
Prokaryotic DNA is not in the nuclues and it is free floating. It is present in the centre of the cell which is known as nucleoid and it is not surronded by nuclear membrane, whereas eukaryotic DNA is embedded in the nucleus.
It is in circular shape whereas, eukaryotic DNA is linear.
Prokaryotic DNA has only one replication origin site.
Prokaryotes lack membrane bound organelles. They have ribosomes, cell membrane, DNA, etc.
In prokaryotes transcription and translation occurs simultaneously. Transcription in prokaryotes occurrs in cytoplasm alongside translation whereas, in eukaryotes transcription occurs in nucleus and translation occurs in cytoplasm.
