What differences and similarities between the two cyanobacteria samples did you observe?
Oscillatoria and Anabaena
Ans) Cyanobacteria are also called blue–green algae. They are prokaryotes. They are able to release oxygen.
Anabaena cells are round in shape and they are bead like which forms the colonies. The cells of end are longer as compared to cells in the middle. They appear to be grass like.
Oscillatoria cells are long and filamentous which break down into fregments known as Hormogonia. It is generally found in water trough.
Both of them are blue–green algae. They both reproduce through fregmentation. Both of them perform photosynthesis as they are green in colour.
