Can you explain in detail the mechanism of how Propanolol acts
in the body against Ischemic heart disease?
(written in computer please, I can't understand some
handwritings)
Answer- Propranolol is a Beta blocker (anti-hypertensive drug) , which blocks the effect of epinephrine (adrenaline). It causes vasodilation of blood vessels and slowing of heart rate to improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure. Propranolol intravenously is given in the treatment of ischemic heart disease.
Mechanism of action
Propranolol selectively blocks the beta-1 receptor in heart, that decreases force of contraction, heart rate and cardiac output leading to the decreased blood pressure.
