Is there any benefits in making Taq polymerase more thermal stable?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answere : Yes! there is benefit of making Taq polymerase more thermal stable or thermostable. Taq polymerase is used in Polymerase Chain Reaction(PCR) technique.

Taq polymerase is a thermostable DNA polymerase. It is so named because it was first discovered in thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus (a bacterium that lives in hot springs). This special DNA polymerase has unique ability to maintain its functioning even at high temperature required during PCR. It adds nucleotides to the 3' ends of the primers and extends them into new complementary DNA strands in extension step of PCR.
