Sexual transmission of HIV consists of processes that exert either positive or negative selection pressure on the virus. Some of these selection pressures lead to the transmission of only one specific HIV.HIV1 strained different dendritic cells subsets are abruptly present at the mucosal sites and interestingly these DC subsets excite opposite pressure on viral selection during sexual transmission. I describe receptors and cellular compartments in DC's that are involved in HIV communication leading to either viral restriction by the host or further dissemanation.
