1. Briefly explain two cellular process, as discussed in class, that are dependent on the cytoskeleton, including stating which component of the cytoskeleton is involved in the process.
2. What would be likely to happen if you inhibited protein phosphorylation near the G2-M checkpoint in a cell culture?
1. Cytoskeleton determines the shape of the cell for cells without cell wall. Intermediate filament is involved in this process. Three main components of cytoskeleton which includes microfilaments, intermediate filament and microtubules helps in cell mobility.
2. M phase cyclin-cdk complexes phosphorylate proteins which bring the cell to metaphase. If protein phosphorylation is inhibited in G2-M checkpoint then the cells does not progress into mitosis phase, hence there will be no new cells in the cell culture .
