What would happen to the gene expression if the regulatory gene of an inducible operon has a mutation? Explain
Operon consists of structural genes which encodes proteins or enzymes, regulatory elements to which regulators bind and regulatory sequences which encodes activator or repressor
Regulatory sequences encode for activator or repressor which activates the gene expression or downregulate the gene expression respictively and called as positive and negative regulation.
In an inducible operon, the expression of genes in the operon is tightly regulated by the regulatory sequences. If the regulatory sequence of activator is mutated, the gene expression will be reduced and if the repressor sequence is mutated, the gene expression will increase.
