An application for tissue engineering is the artificial skin as an example which is approved by the FDA and however in limited utilization in patients. Scaffolds are widely applied for acute burns and skin defects especially when used along with biomaterials like human keratin. Scaffold like polyvinyl alcohol/chitosan have also been proven to be the better scaffolding material for artificial skin. Though PVA scaffold is less biocompatible, characterized by adherance, migration etc., it has less ability to elicit a negligible immune response. Increased vascularization improves the life span and better integration with host skin.It can be further promoted by angiogenic biomolecules and incorporation of endothelial cells and mesenchymal and adipose-derived stem cells to the scaffolding materials
