Yes , natural selection can act on a trait having heritability value i.e r2 = 0.1225.
This is firstly possible because natural selection works on heritability between the range of 0-1. Furthermore, natural selection is performed on triats that are heritable during course of change. Heritability of 0.1225 is not a major value , or all the traits could not have heritable basis of phenotypic variation but it does counts for something in terms getting acted upon during natural selection.
