Describe the 2 processes (Strategy I and stategy II) of iron uptake by plants.

Describe the 2 processes (Strategy I and stategy II) of iron uptake by plants.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer:- Two important strategies used by the plant to absorb the iron from soil.

1. Reduction based strategy- Proton ATPases 2 (AHA 2) extrudes protons in order to acidify the rhizosphere and increase Fe p3 solubility. Solubilized Fe p3 is reduced by membrane bound ferric reductase oxidase 2 (FRO2), and Fe p2 is absorbed by iron regulator transporter 1 (IRT1)

2. Chelation based strategy- Phytosiderosphores (PS) are synthesised and extruded into the rhizosphere by TOM1/OsZIFL4. Phytosiderophores chelates rhizospheric Fe p3 PS- complexes are taken into root cells by oligopeptide transporters 1 ( YS1).

How do I find the weight precent iron (II)? We measured 1.0014 g of unknown iron sample and added 100.0 mL water. Then pipetted 10.00 mL of the first solution into a beaker and added 90.00 mL of water. Then added 1,000 microliters of the second solution to a plastic container along with the reagents needed to analyze it with a spectrophotmeter. This solutions total volume was 10.00 mL. I then measured the absorbance of this solution and got .019...

Part A - Identifying Spontaneous Processes The process of iron being oxidized to make iron(III) oxide (rust) is spontaneous. Which of these statements about this process is/are true? 1) Because the process is spontaneous, the oxidation of iron must be fast. 2) The reduction of iron(III) oxide to iron is also spontaneous. 3) The oxidation of iron is endothermic. 4) Equilibrium is achieved in a closed system when the rate of iron oxidation is equal to the rate of iron(III)...
