Selfish herding theory state that individual in a population in order to save their life from their predators put other conspecies life into danger.  For example, fiddler crab when exposed to predators, they follow the selfish herd theory.

No, this is not an example of altruism because according to altruism animal benefits other animal at the expense of their own life. But in selfish herd, individual put other animal life on risk for their own life
