How is adenylyl cyclase inhibition done?
Adenyl cyclase is an enzyme which is present in the cell membrane which converts the ATP into a secondary messenger cAMP. This cAMP further mediates the cellular functions. Now the adenyl cyclase enzyme can be inhibited by using a substrate mimicking ATP acting on the catalytic site of the enzyme. Moreover there can be allosteric inhibition of the adenyl cyclase enzyme. Further when a agonist binds to a Gs-coupled receptors example in adipose tissue epinephrine and glucagon, causes stimulation of Adenyl cyclase enzyme. But ligands like adenosine, prostaglandin E etc when binds to Gi-coupled receptor causes inhibition of Adenyl Cyclase enzyme. This is how adenyl cyclase enzyme can be inhibited.
All the best mate.Cheers!!
