Describe the effect of nutrient supply on root growth.

Describe the effect of nutrient supply on root growth.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Phosphorus and potassium are the two main nutrients that support root growth in plants and they encourage plants to put down a dense collection of new roots and strengthen existing roots as they develop. Mineral nutrition is an important factor influencing the growth of plant roots.

Increasing nutrient supplies in the soil may decrease root length but increase root weight in a quadratic fashion.Roots with adequate nutrient supply usually have more root hairs than nutrient-deficient roots and this may result in greater uptake of water and nutrients by roots well supplied with essential plant nutrients, compared with roots grown in nutrient-deficient soils.

Hope this helps you. Thank you ?

Statistics, R-Studio Researchers are interested in the effect of a certain nutrient on the growth rate of plant seedlings. Using a hydroponics grow procedure that utilized water containing the nutrient, they planted six tomato plants and recorded the heights of each plant 14 days after germination. Those heights, measured in millimeters, were as follows: 55.5, 60.3, 60.6, 62.1, 65.5, 69.2. Use Rstudio to plot the t distribution graph of the six given heights with a 95% confidence interval.

A researcher wishes to determine the effect of chemicals (A, B) on root growth in pea plants. Seedlings of pea plants are grown for 30 days in the presence of chemicals A and B in separate groups with group C serving as the control. The researcher would like to know if there is a mean difference between the groups and if so, which chemical produced the greatest results. What would be the first step in the analysis? A.
