how can liposome be used to deliver choloroquine (a weak base) to alkalize the endosome (acidic)? just explain how liposome can help the drug choloroquine get to the endosome

Answer #1

Answer) Liposomes are generally vesicles or spherical lipid molecules, this is basically used as a carrier. Chloroquine is a drug used to treat malaria and also helps in cancer treatment. There is a mechanistic approach (proposed):(a) The weak base nature of chloroquine would allows its entry and sequester hydrogen ions by protonation this would accumuates in the acidic environment of endosomes (b) Thereby, the pH of the environment increases and it further inhibits or reduces the activity of lysozyme ezymes (c) The increment in the pH, further causes deactivation of P-Glycoprotein in the membrane and efflux drugs.

Soluble salts containing the ammonium ion (NH4+) can give acidic, neutral or basic solutions when dissolved in water. For any given salt that contains ammonium ion, describe how you would predict whether an aqueous solution of that salt would be acidic, neutral or basic. Note: Kb for the weak base, NH3, is 1.8E-5.

± Determining the pH of a Weak Base and the Percent Ionization of a Weak Acid Unlike strong acids and bases that ionize completely in solution, weak acids or bases partially ionize. The tendency of a weak acid or base to ionize can be quantified in several ways including Ka or Kb, pKa or pKb, and percent ionization*. *This assumes that species of equal concentrations are being compared as percent ionization is affected by concentration.
