Expain why carbon dioxide is not produced when galactose is fermented by yeast

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans :--- The carbon dioxide produced can be directly related to the energy produced through fermentation because carbon dioxide is a by-product of ethanol fermentation. . Glucose had the greatest rate of energy production because its rate of carbon dioxide production was the largest.

Alcoholic fermentation converts one mole of glucose into two moles of ethanol and two moles of carbon dioxide, producing two moles of ATP in the process. The overall chemical formula for alcoholic fermentation is: C6H12O6 → 2 C2H5OH + 2 CO.
