Reproduction involving a macronucleus and a micronucleus is __________.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Macronucleus is the centre of all metabolic activities of the organism and micronucleus is the storage site of germline genetic material of the organism.

Reproduction involving a macronucleus and a micronucleus is binary fission. For example in paramecium, tetrahymena etc

During binary fission, the macronucleus divides amitotically whereas micronucleus divides mitotically.  Both of them divide into two daughter macronuclei and micronuclei respectively.
