What are the properties and characteristics of nucleic acids, how is the DNA of our genome organized?
Nucleic acids are made up of nucleotides,Nucleotide consists of a aromatic base, which contains nitrogen. Each nucleotide consists of three components,a purine,a phosphate group and pentose sugar.Nucleic acids are plolynucleotides.Nucleic acids are the important macromolecule for the life continuity. They carry the instructions for the functioning of the cell.Mainly there are two types of nucleic acids. They are ribonucleic acids ,RNA and Deoxy ribonucleic acid ,DNA.The main function is expression and storage of genetic material.
The genome is organised into 22 paired chromosomes .Additionally the 23 rd xx chromosome in female and xy in male.So total number of chromosomes in humanbeins is 23 pair.
