Does population evolve through natural selection and genetic drift?

Does population evolve through natural selection and genetic drift?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Yes genetic drift and natural selection result in evolution of new species.

In the case of genetic drift when a population is subjected through events resulting in the loss of majority of population and the3 surviving population are result of the adaption to change which might be due to evolution. Suppose a group of population may not survive high temperature and result in loss of a major population but the surviving population might have evolved traits to survive high temperature and this trait may be passed to the offspring.

Natural selection also results in the evolution of new offspring. For example deer feeding on the leaves of long trees have developed long neck to reach the top of long trees and later evolve to new species of animal giraffe.
