What is the most intriguing aspect of the Australopithecines?

Australopithecine is the connecting link between ape and man.It existed in between the late pliocene and early pleistocene era.

We can say this because ramapithecus which occured before australopithecine were great apes. They are said to occur from the miocene and early pliocene era.

Also, australopithecine had features of both ape and man.

Some ape like features of australopithecine: small brains(that were in the range of modern apes), longer arms(which were useful for climbing), sloping faces and long jaw.

Some human-like features of australopithecine: Bipedal locomotion(walking on two limbs, but they were not quick as humans), a short and wide pelvis.

Thus, being a connecting link between ape and man is an intriguing aspect of australopithecine.
