Warts are an example of too much cell growth.

A wart is a small, benign growth on the skin. It is caused by HPV human papilloma virus.

When the virus invades outer layer of the skin through a tiny scratch or abrasion. it affects basal keratinocytes and causes rapid growth of cells on this outer layer, which is called a wart.

There occours thickening of the stratum corneum, stratum spinosum, and stratum granulosum, which are the layers of the epidermis of the skin.
