  • The H+  gradient or the proton gradient is formed when electrons and protons are transfered through various carriers in electron transport chain(ETC).
  • The proton gadient is formed as a result across membrane.So its conversion to H results in no proton gradient.
  • So no free energy will be used to form the electron gradient.Hence there will be availablity of large free energy across thylakoid membrane.
