Generally, isoforms from the same gene arises due to alternative splicing. Alternative splicing is a process in which exons or parts of exons are joined or skipped from a pre-mRNA transcript. Cis acting elements binds to different trans acting elements determine which exons are retained or which exons are spliced off. This is very important in creating diversity.
