The question gave an opportunity to interact with my oldest family member and that is my Granny. She is 82 years old. I walked to her and explained the whole situation she was more than happy to discuss such things and was happy that her opinion is needed and is important. She remembered her past which I think stayed with her like a treasure.
She told that when she got married to my grandfather who is no more today it was the happiest day of her life. They both had a love marriage and were very caring and loving towards each other. They decided on their very first Christmas that apart from the Christmas tree decorating and lighting the menorah they will invite all the distant members of the family for the lunch and the dinner both and this transition is still running in my family. So inviting extended family members that include about 40 to 50 family members really becomes awesome as now it has become the tradition so everybody in our extended family looks towards the elaborate Christmas party which we throw every year.
So my granny started a thing which now has become a ritual and a ritual which everybody enjoys. Lately, this custom was carry forwarded by my parents due to inefficiency of Granny`s age and i have decided that I too along with my wife will carry on this tradition and will convince my children to do the same.
