  • The intensive poultry farming accounts above 70 % of meat productions. The chicken are reared for the egg purpose also. In many countries after several months of egg laying the chicken become economically viable for slaughtering. The intensive farming include caged farming and free run farming primarily. In caged farming these are protected from predators and proper ventilation is needed. In free run these roam around in a enclosed barn. Meat producing chicken become ready for slaughtering after 9 weeks. Approximately 20000 birds grown in a house. And the free range broilers are ready at the 8th week of their age. Different drugs and antibiotics are given for attaining the maximum size of the bird but there are negatives of it too.
  • In the broiler hatching farm they start their life. The eggs are incubated for 21 days for hatching. Then the baby chicks at the 1st day are sold to producer. Temperature and ventilation are specially taken care of. Biosafety is also considered. Drugs having arsenic and antibiotics are given to boost the growth. As they don't have sweat gland temperature has to be maintained. A higher temperature may cause them die. And co2 and ammonia from the room should be flushed out for better health. At the end of the 8 weeks the slaughtering is done. There are several risks such as contamination, wild birds and insects. These should be taken care of.
