both G3P and ATP play a role in the dark reactions of photosynthesis where glucose is broken down to CO2.
True or False

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The given statement is FALSE. It is because there is partial correctness in this. The ATP is definitely used in dark reaction for the breakdown of glucose, but glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate is involved in the synthesis of glucose. There are six molecules of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate made during TCA cycle, out of which one exits the cycle, and begin the synthesis of glucose while the other five are recycled for regeneration of RuBP (Ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate).

This makes the statement FALSE.

Hope it helps, Good luck !!!!

Which is correct about the reactions of cellular respiration (CR) and/or photosynthesis (PS)? in PS, carbon dioxide is split to make oxygen, and make carbon for sugars in both PS and CR, ATP synthase is used to make ATP from ADP and Pi in both PS and CR, a proton-motive force is made using breakdown of organic molecules in CR, glucose gets reduced to make carbon dioxide in both PS and CR, the reactions occur entirely within an organelle
