The endocrine system is responsible for distributing various chemicals such as hormones and steroids throughout the body. Some people may add to their bodies’ natural steroids by taking either prescribed medications or supplements.

• How do steroids affect the body?
• Identify two or more reasons why athletes may take steroid supplements. In your opinion, do these reasons justify athletes’ steroid use? Why or why not?
• Should there be more or less regulation of steroid use, particularly for athletes? Explain.

Answer- the supplementary steroids increase some physiological processes in body like metabolism and red cell production and help in gain of muscles.

The athletes use steroids because these increase the red cell production that help in supply of more oxygen. These also increase the muscle strength and growth that help in formation of musculature. These reason doesn't justify the use of steroids because it is unethical from sports point of view.

There should be more regulation on steroids use for athletes for the fairness of sports.
