The correct answer is  b. Less ATP than oxidation of malate.

Since both oxidation of Succinyl CoA and oxidation of malonate are two distinct steps in Citric acid cycle.

Succinyl CoA undergoes oxidattion to produce succinate. This reaction is performed by the enzyme Succinyl Coenzyme Synthetase. The activation here occurs by GTP hydrolysis. This products formed are succinate and a molecule of GTP.

On the other hand malonate is oxidised malate dehydrogenase to oxaloacetate. During this reaction a molecule of NADH produced.

Thus, One 1 GTP = 1ATP

Bu t 1 NADH = 2.5 ATP

a. Same amount of ATP is not produced. So option A is wrong.

c. Malonate produce more 2.5 ATP but succinyl CoA oxidation gives 1ATP so option C is wrong.

d. GTP hydrolysis activates the reaction not ATP.
