How does arabinose regulate gene expression in the pARA-R plasmid?

  • How does arabinose regulate gene expression in the pARA-R plasmid?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

What is a PARA -R plasmid it is a recombinant plasmid that has genes, such as the rfp gene that can make red fluorescent protein, which is inserted into a plasmid vector.

Now how arabinose regulate a gene expression in para R plasmid it contains a DNA sequence that activates the promoter when the bacteria are grown in the presence of arabinose, a five-carbon sugar that naturally occurs in various plant and bacterial carbohydrates. This sequence is called the arabinose activator (araC). The activator controls the promoter. This is how an arabinose induce a gene expression in para -R plasmid.
