What is the difference between a discrete (∆N/∆t) and continous model of population growth (dN/dt)?
What is the difference between geometric and exponential growth?
In a discrete model of population growth, the growth occurs in regular intervals. For example, the growth of human population is discrete as the growth occurs for every generation.
In continuous model of population growth, the growth occurs continuously. For example, the radioactive decay of a material can be stated as a continuous growth as decay continuously occurs. If the time interval between the discrete growth becomes very less so as to become negligible then it can turn into a continuous growth model.
Geometric growth is done by multiplying the population by a certain number or a factor.
Exponential growth is done by raising the numbers to certain powers.
