Remdesivir is a nucleoside analogue. It blocks viral RNA polymerase. Phosphate group is the main functional group.

Remdesivir is a pro tide pro drug. By action of esterases and phosphoramidase is converted to GS - 441524 monophosphate. This inturn is phosphorylated further nucleotide phosphate kinases to tri phospho GS - 441525.

As an adenosine nucleotide triphosphate analogue, it interferes with viral RNA dependent RNA polymerase. This decreases viral RNA production.
