Why aren’t viruses, viroids, satellites, and prions included in the three domain system?
Ans- Virus, viroids, satellites and prions are classified according to three domain system because they show any character of living organism when they enter in host cell. Inside the host they replicate and transform. In absence of host these exist as inanimate complex organic matter present in environment. They also use machinaery of host perform their life function like transformation and produce multiple copies. The three domain system divided into three classes that is Bacterial, Archea and Eukaryotes.
Hence viruses, Viroids, satellites and prions are categorized into three domain system, themselves they are acellular that means it contains only DNA or RNA contained in protein coat. They do not have all characeristic of living organism.
