How are autotrophs and hererotrophs linked in nature?
A) autotrophs produce CO2, which serves as an electron donor in heterotrophs
B) ones reactantant are also the others reactants
C) ones reactants are the others products

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Option C. Ones reactants are other products. Autotrophs are the organisms which takes CO2 from environment and prepares their food in the form of carbon compounds like glucose. The reaction for this process is as follows-

6CO2 + 6H2O -> C6H12O6 + 6O2

Now these products is the reaction performed by the autotrophs are consumed by the heterotrophs. Heteotrophic organisms are those organisms which oxidise the carbon compounds like glucose to produce energy and waste products like CO2. The chemical reaction in a heterotrophs are as follows-

C6H12O6+ 6O2 -> 6CO2 + 6H2O.

So we can see clearly how the products of one is the reactants of other.
