Administration of fructose will reduce the glycemic load during the oral glucose tolerance test.The results will be evident after the test .This is due to the intake of both glucose and fructose as the carbohydrate source and can reduce the glycemic levels due to different absorption.

a.The dose of fructose is usually 10% of glucose given .That is for 75 g if glucose taken 7.5g of fructose is administered

b.Timing of dose is important where the absorption of these sugars has to be considered before the blood samples are collected after the load is given

c.Exercise does affect the results because during exercise energy is required where glucose is utilized
